THE FUND
THE FUND
With the recent suicides at Dartmouth, we are more motivated than ever to tackle this issue at Dartmouth and around the world. As a first step, we've created the Omondi Obura Fund for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention at Dartmouth. This fund directly supports Dartmouth's Campus Connect Initiative, a mental health awareness, crisis intervention, and suicide prevention initiative committed to three main goals:
Promote a caring and inclusive community in which the stigma associated with mental health problems is reduced.
Train members of the Dartmouth community to recognize students at potential risk and refer them to appropriate services.
Provide educational programs and disseminate informational materials related to wellness, health promotion, and suicide prevention.
Amazing (You Are)
Thanks to the generosity of early donors, the Obura Fund is now a permanent endowment at Dartmouth. Your generosity has helped and will help ensure that at least one community (students, faculty, alumni, parents, and administrators) will be better equipped to recognize the critical signs of mental illness and to help afflicted students get the support they need. Thank you.
Now, Let's Keep Going!
With the principal of the Fund at $300,000 and the dividend paid out to Campus Connect at 4%, our goal is to grow the principal to $500,000 -- and finally to $1,000,000 -- to ensure the ongoing success and sustainability of Campus Connect.
